Abstract

Tannery effluent cause acute toxicity to a broad spectrum of aquatic organisms and thus it is imperative to understand its ecotoxicological implications. An attempt was made to decipher the impact of tannery effluent on the lipid profiles in the reproductive tissues of Channa striatus. A significant increase was observed in the cholesterol and triglycerides levels, whereas triglyceride and phospholipid levels showed a marked decline in testis.
