Abstract

In the present research study lucrative and eco friendly silver nanoparticles were synthesized from the leaf extract of Ocimum sanctum, as reducing agent. The nanoparticles were characterized by using UV-visible spectroscopy and SEM analysis. The absorption peak at 470 nm broadens with enhance in time representing the polydispersity nature of the nanoparticles. The SEM image confirmed virtually spherical shaped nanoparticles. The antioxidant and anti arthritic activities of these nanoparticles have also been studied. The antioxidant activity of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) was found to increase with increase in concentration of Ocimum sanctum. Antiarthritic activity of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) of Ocimum sanctum revealed that, the release of various bioactive substances help in preventing arthritis.
