Abstract
The present study aimed to synthesize silver nanoparticles or green silver (AgNPs) using leaf extract of Ocimum sanctum to study their antidiabetic activity in an in-vitro condition. The synthesized silver nanoparticles were characterized by different techniques like UV Visible spectrophotometer and SEM. The SEM analysis clearly distinguished and confirmed the formation of silver nanoparticles. The reduction of silver metal ions was performed due to the presence of various types of antioxidants in leaves of Ocimum sanctum. The formed nanoparticles were fairly stable which can be incubated upto 4 months in refrigerator. Finally the antidiabetic activity i.e. ability of AgNPs of Ocimum sanctum to control blood sugar levels were evaluated in an in-vitro condition. This recent research study is an innovative design to progress our understanding of how AgNPs behave and can be optimized to improve human antidiabetic activities.
