Abstract
The purpose of the present research was to evaluate anthelmintic activity of leaf extract of Vitex negundo. The preliminary phytochemical studies revealed the presence of phytoconstituents like alkaloids, flavanoids, steroids, carbohydrates, proteins, tannins, glycosides, saponins, thiols, phenols, triterpenoids, and purins. The extract had significant dose-dependent anthelmintic activity in all in-vitro experiments. The ethanolic extract obtained from the leaves of Vitex negundo showed anthelmintic Activity at various concentrations respectively (10mg/ml, 20mg/ml, and 50mg/ml). From the obtained results it can be concluded that the leaf extract of Vitex negundo has good anthelmintic property and it could be explored as a natural antihelminthic.
