Abstract

Background & Purpose: Success base of library portal is designing a user friendly environment with efficient acces- sibility to a proper set of centralized information resource in order to provide users’ information needs. So, this research has been done with the aim of assessing search indicators & investigating apparent features which have essential role in accessing to existing resources of central library & document center of Iran Medical Science Uni- versity. Research method: Research method was descriptive-survey & applied kind. Research population was por- tal of central library & document center of Iran Medical Science University central library & document center of Iran Medical Science University. Needed data has been gathered based on a checklist which has been designed according to study related literature & researches in 3 criteria & 70 components. Findings: Findings indicate that under-study portal is in average status in term of search criteria usage level & is in desired status in terms of re- covery criteria & apparent features. Conclusion: In investigating search criteria & apparent features of Central Library Portal & document center of Iran Medical Science University some defect have been seen. It can be said that these criteria have not been used desirably in portal of this library& there is so much distance in reaching to so desired status; this status is originated from their incompatibility with principles, rules & standards. Designers of this portal should concentrate their focus on this weakness & try to resolve these weaknesses according to re- sults & suggestions.
