Abstract

This paper focuses on the preparation and application of SBA-15 in an organic synthesis. This study uses Nano- porous acid SBA-15 as an economic, environmentally friendly, and highly easy-reusable catalyst in the one-pot Synthesis of Tetrahydropyran derivatives via Biginelli-like three components of malononitrile, aldehydes, aromatic aldehydes and dimedone under non-toxic solvent conditions in a short reaction time with excellent yields. Non- toxic solvent avoids the usage of hazardous organic solvent and reusability of the catalyst (9 reaction cycles). Pre- sent efficient -simple experimental procedure is utilized as a green method in this research procedure. SBA-15 is able to catalyze a variety of organic reactions as a highly efficient heterogeneous solid acid catalyst. The used cata- lyst can also be removed easily, recovered and reused without any significant loss of activity. The results confirm a considerable reactivity and reusability of SBA-15.
