Abstract
The present study aimed at phytochemical and antibacterial activity of leaves of extract of Lippia nodifora L. by Disc diffusion method against Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Enterobacter aerogens, Salmonella typhi, Proteus vulgaris, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus cereus. In phytochemical analysis Sec- ondary metabolites are identified in all extracts such as steroids, triterpenoids, sugars, reducing sugars, phenolic compounds, flavonoids, saponins and tannins. In antibacterial activity the highest activity was observed in ethan- loic leaf extract of Lippia nodifora L. against Bacillus cereus. Poor inhibition zone was observed in methanolic & chloroformic leaves extract of Lippia nodifora L.
