Abstract
The present research was made to investigate the phytochemical and anti-bacterial activity of various extract of aerial root of Ficus bengalensis. Phytochemical analysis of methanolic and ethyl acetate extract of Ficus bengalen- sis by thin layer chromatography and HPTLC revealed that the presence of flavonoids. Anti-bacterial activity of these extracts also showing significant activity against selected microorganism. From this study it has been con- cluded that Ficus bengalensis possess significant anti-bacterial activity and flavonoids might be a responsible ac- tive principle for this activity.
