Abstract
Seed oil of Althaea rosea (Malvaceae) has been analyzed for its fatty acid composition as methyl ester, using Chromatographic, Chemical and Spectroscopic techniques and was found to contain HBr reactive Cyclopropenoid fatty acids (CPFA) up to the extent of 8.97% along with the normal fatty acids. The cyclopropenoid moiety was resolved into two components as silver nitrate – methanol derivatives in malvalic and sterculic acids using AOCS methods.
