Abstract

Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) is a systemic autoimmune disease that primarily manifests as a chronic symmetric po- lyarthritis. Treatment of RA in the past was aimed at symptomatic relief of pain with corticosteroids, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDS) and frequent addition of disease modifying anti-rheumatic drugs (DMARDS) to slow the disease progression. Today more advanced treatment is used to protect from RA. This review is aimed to offer a study of new treatments and therapies like Immunomodulation, angiogenesis-inhibitors, gene therapy and cytokines and non pharmacological agents which play a key role in the inflammatory response in RA.
