Banana (Musa Paradisica) is the second most important fruit crop in India next to mango. Banana is a rich source of carbohydrate and is rich in vitamins particularly vitamin B, it is also a good source of potassium, phosphorus, calcium and magnesium. In the present study parts of the banana fruit such as peels serve as a potential source of bioactive substances which can be used to treat inflammation due to sunburn by protein denaturation inhibition method where the percentage of inhibition was in the range of 62-82 and SPF value which was found to be 7.1 and 4.9 protects the skin from UV radiation.
