PHARMACOGNOSTIC APPROACH ON SYSTEMATIC ANALYSIS IN IDENTIFICATION OF AKIL AND ITS ADULTERANTS

Abstract

The wood drug Akil of high incense with medicinal properties was taken for analysis. For its rarity and high price value in perfume market, many unrelated woods are adulterated. So in order to identify the authentic identity many woods available of same name were collected from Chennai, Delhi, and Dehradun. A complete macro and microscopic characters were studied for all the samples collected and the original wood fragments. Also histochemical localization and preliminary phytochemical screening were carried out.
