Abstract
In the present study ethyl acetate extract of herb of Zygophyllum simplex Linn. (Zygophyllaceae) was screened for anti-inflammatory and analgesic activities. The analgesic activity of Zygophyllum simplex Linn was assessed by us- ing acetic acid induced writhing in mice and tail-flick method using rats. Anti-inflammatory activity was assessed by carrageenan induced rat paw oedema in rats. A significant analgesic activity and anti-inflammatory activities were observed at a dose of 100, 200 and 400 mg/kg body weight. A dose dependent analgesic and anti- inflammatory activities were observed with the EtOAc extract of the herbs of Zygophyllum simplex.
