Abstract
The main purpose of the present study was to evaluate antioxidant activity of ethanolic extract of cauliflower leaves. In this study the antioxidant potential of the ethanol extract of cauliflower leaves was examined using a 1, 1-diphenyl-2picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) free radical scavenging activity, lipid peroxidation scavenging activity. The preliminary pytochemical studies revealed the presence of phytoconstituents like alkaloids, flavanoids, steroids, carbohydrates, proteins, tannins, glycosides, saponins, thiols, phenols, triterpenoids, and purins. The extract had significant dose-dependent antioxidant activity in all invitro experiments. From the obtained results it can be concluded that the ethanolic extract of cauliflower leaves has good antioxidant property and it could be explored as a natural antioxidant.
